Thanks for making district playgrounds accessible to mobility-impaired students

This week is National Inclusive Schools Week, reminding us of the importance of ensuring that all children, regardless of ability, are aided by educators and members of their communities to feel cherished and welcomed to participate in the full range of growing and learning opportunities in their schools.
It seems a fitting time to thank the taxpayers of Eanes school district for supporting the recent bond issue to fund accessible playgrounds for children at four of our elementary schools. Thank you also to the current school board and the members of the Bond Oversight Committee for prioritizing accessibility in district playground renovations.
The parent of a mobility-impaired child, I have worked very hard on this issue. It does my heart good to know that these new playgrounds are places where district children of all abilities can participate, make friends, and play together as they learn that we are all more alike than we are different. Today’s playground builds a better tomorrow.
